GIANT PRAWN 2019 Conference was the fifth in a series on the farming of Macrobrachium spp. It was held at the Shanghai Ocean University, Lingang Campus, Pudong District, Shanghai, China, from 15 to 18 November 2019, organized by Krishna R. Salin, Chair of the Aquaculture Program of Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and Huang Xuxiong of Shanghai Ocean University, China. The Conference provided an excellent opportunity for the global freshwater prawn farming industry to review the updated research and discuss priorities for future expansion of the industry worldwide. The visit to the prawn farms and hatcheries in the Jiangsu Province of China made this one of the most memorable events.
