In 2023, GIANT PRAWN returns to Thailand.

Thailand is among the top five producers of giant freshwater prawn, occupying the third position after China and Bangladesh considering the annual production in 2020. The production volume of this important aquaculture species declined between 2011 and 2016, falling from 25,606 tonnes in 2010 through 21,080 tonnes in 2011, to 14,950 tonnes in 2016. In 2017, production increased to 21,415 tonnes and rose steadily to 32,460 tonnes in 2020.

Following the example of the first GIANT PRAWN meeting in 1980 and four other conferences, it is with pleasure that this event again comes to Thailand! GIANT PRAWN 2023 will be a great opportunity for the global freshwater prawn farming industry to review the latest research and development and to brainstorm what the future priorities should be for its future expansion.

GIANT PRAWN 2023 will be held at the Novotel Bangkok Future Park Rangsit Hotel, located close to the vibrant city of Bangkok. The campus of the Asian Institute of Technology, AIT is about 20 minutes drive from the hotel and is well connected to the world.
